The Fish From Outer Space

    4"H x 4"W x 1.50"D
Oil on Canvas  $35.00 plus S&H
This little fish is sitting on a glass ball.  This is my first rendition of him...what was I thinking!!
I struggled with getting the ball to look like glass so I just had fun with color and shape.  I actually think he is really funny, he makes me laugh!...which is always a good thing, I think.

"Fish Eggs"

6 x 6 Oil on canvas panel $65.00 unframed, $90.00 framed and ready to hang in plain black wooden frame. Add S&H to your ZIP

I love things with an Asian influence, having lived in Taiwan for 18 months when I was a teenager. I bought this beautiful roof tile from the Linden Gallery in Ellison Bay, Wisconsin. It looks much better in person! I had some brown organic eggs, so, I thought "Fish Eggs" would be a catchy title. Hum! maybe I should have called it Caviar!

The Most Important Thing

8" x 6"   Oil on wrapped canvas.
SOLD

This is the challenge from The Daily Paintworks site for the week.  Photo from Linda Popple.
I made her hair and phone the warmest and brightest to emphasize the two aspects that had attracted Linda to take the photo on her visit to New York City.  I kept it somewhat abstract.  This young lady looks very much like my youngest daughter, who is tall, has long blonde hair, is intense and wears sunglasses just like this!

Sliced Bananas

                                                                           SOLD

This was fun to do.  I had one last banana that looked like it was going fast!  I decided to slice it as part of my breakfast.  I loved the shapes of the slices but didn't want the wounded part of the rest of the banana showing.  I pulled in some "extras' to take some of the attention off it.

Gloria J Zucaro's "Blue Cherries"

6 x 6 oil on Raymar canvas panel

I had done this pot as a value study, then in color, but it needed something, so I added cherries.  I thought maybe I should put something in the pot, but as I looked at it, I thought it felt serene which I liked at that moment.

"A Fish Out Of Water"

6 x 6 inch square                          Oil on canvas panel          SOLD

This little fish is one of my collection of trinket boxes.  I liked the idea of the distortion that is made by glass.  I filled a pasta sauce jar with water and put my little fish behind it.   The only thing missing, are the rhinestones on the fish!          To Purchase, Click here

"White On Black Floral" Challenge

SOLD
6" x  6" oil on Raymar Canvas Panel .
This painting is my entry into the Daily Paintworks challenge of painting any white object on a patterned fabric background.  It is so much fun to see all the entries, each different and outstanding in their own way.

Tree Sculpture Series "Late Bloomer"

8"H x 10"W Original Oil on Board,
SOLD

I always think that bare trees look like sculptures.  This tree was in a lovely garden in Long Grove, IL.  Our group was doing Plein Air  and  I picked this tree as my subject matter because its' "body" was so beautiful.  Most everything else in the garden was in bloom, so I titled the painting "Late Bloomer".

"Two Brown Eggs"

6" x 6"   Oil on Raymar Canvas Panel
SOLD

This painting is in response to The Daily Paintworks challenge by Carol Marine using a slightly different color for each brushstroke made.  I love the handled bowl that can be used in the oven for broiling the cheese and bread on top of onion soup.  I also enjoyed seeing how shadows were affected by the brown and white eggs.

"Mandarin"

My Blog                  My Website                   My Email

This was my first 6 x 6 daily painting this year.  I purchased this soy sauce cruet at The Linden Gallery in Door County.  They have wonderful high quality furniture and smalls from China, and are also a gallery for excellent traditional artists such as our own Susan Ploughe from Mainstreet Art Centre.

Ten Minute Challenge

My Blog                     My Email

This is my choice of subject for the second challenge offered on The Daily Paintworks site.  We were to pick any small object and divide our canvas into 3"square sections.  Then set a timer and paint for exactly 10 minutes.  We had to stop...or else Carol said we got no dessert!  We were to do the painting 8 times.  Whoa! Scary!  I thought I had started pretty well, until I stood back!  A little crooked there, what, and it gets worse as it goes along.  But I must say, that the last pitcher on each 6" x 6" panel was the most successful.  What did I learn? (other than that I fold under pressure!!)   That you really get to know your subject and you start to pay more attention to your values.

One & One-Half Red Hot Peppers

This is a 4" x 6' inch oil painting on linen sheet.     SOLD
I am entering in a postcard exhibition at the Discovery Museum in Wauconda , Illinois.  The museum has hundreds of vintage postcards and has a display of them on exhibit at all times,  many of them depicting the surroundings areas in times past.  Every year they have a contest for artists to make new cards about any subject.  They must be exactly 4 x 6 and have a matt around them with the outside demension of 8 x 10.  The chosen artworks will all be displayed in identical frames for the show.  Since I paint in oil and had painted this before I knew all the rules, I had to remove this from the stretcher and glue it onto a backer board.

Gloria J Zucaro's "The Lincoln Challenge"

12" x 9" on canvas sheet  Oil  Unframed
See this painting on Ebay

This portrait of Lincoln was a challenge offered on the Daily Paintworks site by Raymond Logan.  We could pick between one and four options of how to paint Mr. Lincoln....  Black and white, color, both at the same time, or "Other"!  I submitted this one and also started one of Lincoln as a current days young man.  I haven't finished that one yet. ..not sure I should!

Gloria J Zucaro's "Brown Jug, Blue Sky"

6"x 6" Oil on Raymar Canvas Panel

I love this little brown jug...reminds me of a song I once heard!  I don't want to tell you what year that was popular!  In this painting I used the one color, one stroke method suggested by Carol Marine in one of the Daily Paintworks Challenges.  I am really enjoying all the challenges, but this one was my favorite and I plan on contiuning to use this method.

"The Road To Adventure"

6"H x 8"W x 3/4"  Oil on Canvas    $75.00 plus S&H  Unframed  May also be framed for $25.00
This is my painting for the German Road Challenge offered by Carol Marine on The Daily Paintworks site.  I picked this version of the two photo's offered because of the building in the background, and because I like the feeling of coming out of the shade and into the sunlight, with the golden road before me leading around the curve to my next adventure.
