Gloria J Zucaro's "Mardi Gras Mask"

Original Pen & Ink Design on 5"H by 7"W watercolor greeting card.
$5.00 plus 50 cents shipping.
This is my entry for The Diva Challenge of the week which is a Mardi Gras theme, and for my Paint Party Friday entry.  This was a lot of fun to do.  I went to a Mardi Gras party last weekend and this was my mask.  In reality it is covered gold glitter and sequins with a black felt piece that comes up between the eyes at the top edge and black feathers all around  the felts edges.  The ribbons are a matte gold and a shiny gold.

The patterns I used are STRIRCLES, FLUKES(also known as CORNER BOX), BLACK BOX, LOTUS PODS, RIVER, CANARD.

  1. Hi, thank you. The reason it pushed you out was because I had actually planned on having it post at midnight for Paint Party Friday. But then I changed my mind and posted it to I Am The Diva.

  3. Hi Gloria! This is unusual because it's in black and white! Usually mardi gras themes scream in color! But you actually made it glitter!!! Patsy from

  6. What a great piece! I love pen and ink and this is brilliant. The patterns in the background make me think of harlequin for some reason (that and the mask i guess). is it based on zentangles? I don't know much about those but have seen them on other folks' blogs and just wondered.

  15. Wonderful drawing, all the details and patterns are great. I love Mardi Gras and Carnival masks, I am so tempted to collect them, but now you have got me thinking I could paint them instead and save myself scads of money and space.
