Gloria J Zucaro's "Rixty Egg"

Today Laura Harms of I am the Diva gave us the latest Zentangle release from Rick and Maria(originators of the Zentangle craze) as our prompt.  The design is in celebration of Rick's sixtieth birthday. Zentangle
I had boiled some eggs for Easter and had already decided to decorate them with my own art materials instead of the store-bought dyes.  It was fun decorating this egg with a Micron pen #8.  A couple of times I accidentally smeared the ink.  So I decided to let some time elapse and lean the egg against a pink eraser to keep the recently inked side upright. I had to use "Wite-out" to cover the smears.  I think I will try doing an egg for each of my Easter guests.  I am posting this to Paint Party Friday.  Take a look at all the new art for the week.  Happy Easter & Happy Passover everyone.

    1. Thank you Simon, I saw another great idea on Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's site, too. Use plastic eggs and cover the seam with tape. Then use matte medium and cover the eggs with torn pieces of decorative napkins or tissue paper.

    1. Thank you Jean, I will see if I need to seal them with anything. But I think I won't since they are real eggs and that might make them toxic.

I just got a tip from Annette Carlo to use LePen. It is permanent and does not smudge.

  6. Nice job!!! Eggs are so much fun to work on!! There is a pen that is alcohol based and it is called LePen, and it is permanent. It works best on any slick surface and real eggs, without smudging. It dries quick too! I bought mine at Michaels craft store. I am going to do a post about it on my blog soon. I just thought I would share that bit of info. At Christmas, that's what a lot of sales people use to personalize ornaments, but they never want to share that info. Anyway, they are a great purchase! Have a great week! :0) Share Humanity

  8. Always can find new things to tangle. I think working on 3-D objects is a challenge. Have the same issue when doing Christmas ornaments. Looks nice and sure your guests will appreciate your work.

  17. I wonder what bird lay that egg? Nifty art! You'll have to get yourself "Lepen" that Netty suggested, sounds like the tool you need for this art.

    Happy Easter ()..()

  18. What a wonderful idea for your eggs. The "endless" nature of the tangle, the oval eternal egg -- it all takes on wonderful symbolism this time of year. thanks for sharing!
