Gloria J Zucaro's " Saturday Workshop with Laura-Lein Svencner".

This past Saturday an artist friend and I enjoyed a one-day workshop with Laura-lein Svencner and 8 other artists. Laura makes beautiful abstract collages that include handmade papers, thread, beads, and organic matter. But the focus for this workshop was abstract landscape collage.  It was so wonderfully organized!  All we brought was our lunch!  Laura had all the supplies for making our own papers and then designing our landscapes from them and heat-tacking them together on watercolor paper.
We each received a large zip-lock bag that held all the papers we would transform with paint, templates and polymer, each picking our own palette and two pieces of watercolor paper to attach our landscapes to. We had taped the edges so that when we removed the tape we had a wonderfully clean white mat effect.
Below are my two finished abstract landscape collages.

Gloria J Zucaro's " Trying Some Intuitive Abstract"

This week I switched gears like I often do and have a work in process. I used black and white acrylic paint and a couple of colorful inks. I did some stamping and small pieces of collage. I don't like it yet. Too busy and too colorful all over. I plan on adding some black and white text pieces, some more stenciling and stamping and some gesso cover-up. Then I hope to see areas that really appeal to me to make into my focal points.  I did have fun so far though!  I am linking to Paint Party Friday.
Have a peek at that site and have a good week.
Oh yes, I have a question and would appreciate your help.
I now have some beautiful stamps from Nathalie Kalbach and from Darkroom Door.  I don't seem to understand how to use them!  I never get a good imprint with all the details.  I don't know if my inks are not good, or should I roll on some paint?  What is the best way to proceed?  Thanks so much!

Gloria J Zucaro's "South of Tucson"

A week of some things not pertaining directly to art endeavors.  My very small laundry room is about 5 feet 6 inches by 6 feet and had three doors entering into it. One came in from the garage. The one opposite that led from the laundry room into the dining room. On the wall opposite the washer and dryer was the door going down to the basement. If the garage door and dining room doors were open they almost touched in front of the two machines and with the basement door open it overlapped the entry into the dining room.  Before Christmas I had the basement door removed and a pocket door installed in its' place.  This week I had the dining room door removed and a solid wood barn door put on the inside of the dining room wall to cover that doorway when needed or to remain open for easy access to the basement or garage.  The reason I had asked for a solid wood door is because the door and the track will be painted to match the dining room wall color and it is now suitable to hang a painting on, whether opened or closed. Yea!

My painting this week has also been "updated".  I put in the foreground and subtracted two automobiles!  Formerly the bottom quarter of the page was a dark shadow blue color...too much uninteresting blue.  It was supposed to show that I was standing on the edge of a two lane highway separated by some desert space which is what was in my photograph.  I must learn not to be so literal!

I am linking with Paint Party Friday. You will be inspired by the art from all over the world that was created this week.

If you are on Facebook, I also have a page called Gloria J Zucaro Artwork in Pen & Ink.  I post there occasionally. Have a great week.~gloria

Gloria J Zucaro's "Reservoir"

I am sorry to have missed last week's post.  I had more dental surgery and then a mild case of stomach flu.  I finally had to make time for putting away Christmas, start to collect tax papers, clean house and recuperate!  So I have several unfinished projects from Creative Jumpstart 2017 hosted by Nathalie Kalbach.  This week I worked on and finished a painting I had started last Spring.  I changed it quite a bit and am now satisfied with it.  I am linking to Paint Party Friday, hosted by Kristin and Eva.  Many fine artists from all over the world display their work every Friday.  Check it out.  You will be inspired.
