February was so busy, but so much fun!

This month I not only returned from a wonderful week on the East coast, was doing a sketching workshop with Ardith Goodwin, put one of my paintings in an exhibit joined with poets who made poetry to go with our specific paintings, am hosting my book club group reading "The Whistling Season" by Ivan Doig, went to the Chicago Botanic Garden for the orchid show, and  saw a couple of good movies!  I will include a few pictures from my adventures.

Sketch from magazine.  It will be the reference for an upcoming painting.

A detailed sketch of eye and then painted with watercolor.

    1. Thank you, Sue. I did have fun with "Just Passing Through!" Although the traditional painters in my group said things like "that's interesting." and "Where did that idea come from>" LOL!

    1. Aren't those murals great!? It was my favorite tourist area. The paintings change constantly on the sides of the buildings. The artists ask the building or store owner if they may use their wall to paint on. They present their plan and how long it will take to paint. The artists do not get paid for their work, but the paint is furnished. In this area of Miami, it is not illegal to paint on the buildings, so they are not bothered by the police. We took an hour golf cart ride around the area. Our diver, a young woman in her early thirties is a muralist and her husband is a graffiti artist. The graffiti artists get the best walls because they are the ones who started the art in the area.
