Gloria J Zucaro's " Mystery Palette"

At Karen Margulis suggestion I did a painting using only a limited palette of fourteen pastels I received in the Terry Ludwig Mystery Box.  Once a year you can order the Mystery box, not knowing what you will receive. They are randomly packed with odds and ends from the vast Ludwig selection.  It is so much fun to see what you get each time.  Here is the box of colors I
received.

I decided to try one of my series landscape paintings using only these colors.  It was a little difficult because the dark gray on the bottom right was the darkest value, which made it hard to make the lighter values look light enough.  Here is that painting.

Thank you for visiting my blog, have a good weekend.

Gloria J Zucaro's "July Variations"

I have been enjoying a more leisurely pace with my artwork in the last couple of months.  I needed to pull back from 4 challenges a week and 3 in addition monthly.  Since starting my Marla inspired variations, I have amazed myself that I could really tolerate doing more than two of anything.  But since when I start a new variation, I only look at my black and white prototype, I never really get the same pastel painting twice.

I had shown you numbers one through three a couple of weeks ago.  Here are 4-9.  If you would like to be able to see more detail, click on the image and it will enlarge.  I am posting this to Paint Party Friday, which has a huge assortment of talented artists participating every week.  My gallery of works can also be found on Pinterest, Facebook and Twitter.

I could tell I was getting into and Orange and Purple rut, so Number Nine below has some different colors.  That is a quandary!  What if you are an Orange and Purple personality?

Gloria J Zucaro's "Fone Home"

Original Ink Design on 3.5" Square official Zentangle watercolor paper tile.
See my Daily Paintworks Auction to buy this design.

This is my entry into this weeks I Am the Diva Challenge  http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/
Our tangle to work with is called "Mi2"by CZT Mimi Lempart.  The basic shape is interlocking pieces that remind me of the chainmail that knights would wear.  I started with the feeling of falling into a maelstrom or "the rabbit hole" in the center.  Then did two versions of the basic design.  In the second one I added the perpendicular bars in the centers of the ovals.  Suddenly it looked like ET and the title occurred to me...Fone Home!
