Gloria J Zucaro "Putting on Layers with Rae Missigman"

Today I got to make a colorful relaxing mix of paint, watercolor crayons and pencils, ink, glue, collage and a quote.  The quotation addition is our theme for this week on CJS 2017, about how we are inspired by quotes or if we have favorite quotations.  Or project leader today for our CJS17 project was Rae Missigman who can be found at http://rae-missigman.squarespace.com/

My quotation-"The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most" by John Ruskin  That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Gloria J Zucaro's "A Week of Matisse"

This past week has been the start of Creative Jumpstart 2016 led by Nathalie Kalbach.  There are 25 instructors to give us videos for projects with a theme.  This week's theme was master painter Matisse. We did projects using techniques taught by our instructors and using Matisse' art as inspiration.  Below are my Matisse inspired pieces and the name of the instructor.  If you want to see the steps for each project I posted them earlier in the week.  The projects that I finished for today are also below.

Steps for the Carmen Sanchez project.

Stage One, using odds & ends from candy wrappers, envelopes, stamps glued down with Gel medium.  I will post this project to Carolyn Dube's site also as using recycled materials is her theme this month.

Stage two.  Carmen showed using a stencil with modeling paste

The final touches were adding torn tissue with matte medium and some acrylic paint in the Matisse color scheme.  I also added some doodling and writing in pen and ink.

Gloria J Zucaro's "Matisse Impressions"

I have been home the last few days with something "flu-like".  I had signed up for Creative Jumpstart 2016 led by Nathalie Kalbach and a weekly challenge with Roberta Laliberte using palette color prompts.

I used the colors in Roberta's palette and used the theme from Jumpstart.

Our first of 25 videos on Jumpstart was by Rae Missigman.  She did a floral in the style of Matisse.  We were to do our own painting in his style also.

Next Rae had added white paint over everything and then scraped it off with a card.  I was too chicken!  My paper is one of those woven types, I thought it would rip.  So I covered it with waxed paper.  I did not like it at all, as I am a bright color high contrast painter!  But it did add texture which I liked by the end.

Covered with wax paper and matte medium!  I redrew around the shapes with a scripto pen.

So I repainted it, using the acrylic paints with some Dr. Martin Inks added for fun!

After that dried I did some outlines in white/black scripto and called it a day!
