Our last project of the third week on CJS17 was with Jamie Dougherty. Jamie showed how she collages her backgrounds with pieces of fabric instead of paper. She also did a quick demo painting over the dry background. I didn't have multiple pieces of fabric, but the one I had, had interesting designs on it. Instead of painting my focal point,I applied a transfer to go with the quotation, and ink to some designs, some paint pens and markers. "The road to success runs uphill" by Willie Davis.

Gloria J Zucaro's "Not So Mellow Yellow"
8"H x 8"W Original Mixed Media Design on Canvas Panel
$55.00/$7.00 S&H
This week is flying by. I finally decided what I wanted to do for the Daily Paintworks "Yellow" challenge.
I had thought of sunrise, bananas, lemons, koi, and finally realized that it was all relative. In this painting, I have a cool yellow(lemon) but added a halo of red. There are sections in the design that are hot colors next to the cool yellow. With the yellow challenge, it meant "heat" to me, so I used other colors to get the heat. In painting and life, a color is always seen in relationship to the other colors around it. So I think I gave you some "heat" here with my yellow, orange, fuchsia and red combo. Drawn with permanent marker and colored with inks, markers and paint pens. There is a little color distortion, as my oranges are not quite this bright, but trying to change them just messes up the rest of the colors. I am adding this to Jennifer Mclean's The Artist Playroom challenge for this week as some of my favorite things...bright colors, and tangles! Plus Happy Birthday Jennifer!

My original design in black and white is below. I had cards printed from my photos. After the cards were printed I added the color to the two hearts. The basketweave shadows are with pencil, the brighter colors in the two hearts with paint pens. I notice that the background of the card looks blue for some reason. It is not, it is sepia toned. This is considered a ZIA, Zentangle in art. This is my Happy Valentine to you all. Thank you for appreciating my art.
This is my Paint Party Friday entry, too. Happy PPF!.
