This week for The Artist Playroom,Jennifer Mclean,
http://www.justaddwatersilly.com/ offered the prompt of strawberries,or "Be Inspired By Food" because Spring made her think of strawberries. I immediately thought of strawberry shortcake because this Sunday is Mother's Day and my Mom's favorite dessert is good old fashioned strawberry shortcake made with real biscuits, not the ones in a can! Real strawberries and real whipped cream. Yum! I enjoyed making the drawing a little abstracted and used a tangle pattern for the tablecloth. I would also like to say "Hello!" to all my Paint Party Friday friends and add this to this Friday's party. Happy PPF. Please visit Kristin and Eva and all the other artists that enter their artwork there. http://paintpartyfriday.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteWow Gloria..another beauty. What a wonderful tribute to your mom!!Love the energy of this piece...I totally love the dark speckles on the strawberries..and love the sense of motion I feel from the abstracted tabelcloth..like falling inward and flowing in that circular motion!! The colors of the plate..blues and purples and mauves, exquisite!! What a feast for the eyes..such a color-rush...thankyou!!

Beautiful, Gloria. The colors are perfect for my favorite dessert, too. We do a lot of strawberry shortcakes in the early summer and whenever we can find strawberries. Love the painting.

ReplyDeletethis painting is so so delicously good/well done; I am salavating looking at it. Happy Mother's Day, and PPF!
ReplyDeleteI love strawberry shortcake! It reminds me of my Granny, she had everything strawberries...carpet, dishes, etc. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite dessert. Wonderfully done!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful and a strong image. Loving it!
ReplyDeletethis is wonderful...xxx
ReplyDeleteWell, if you didn't just paint and describe a little slice of heaven! Took me right back to my granny's kitchen.
ReplyDeleteShe used vanilla ice cream on her shortcake. When we saw Papa oiling the crank on the ice cream maker, we knew it was going to be great day. As a kid I never understood why the went to all the trouble to make their own ice cream rather than just buy a carton from the store.
I haven't had strawberry shortcake for far too long (mostly because I don't make biscuits). Always loved it and you painted it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteYum yum this really looks so good. The art is great too.
