Tonight I am linking to Jennifer Mclean's  of The Artist's Playroom challenge of "What do you treasure?"  Of course, the first thing that pops into mind are friends and family, then creating art, then my home, health, etc.  But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how the main thing I wish I had more of and can never get enough of is "TIME". I never seem to have enough time to enjoy all the things I love, people I love and things I want to do.

Gloria J Zucaro's "The Tree,The House & Me"

Another busy and productive week to share with my friends at Paint Party Friday.  Today I finished my entry for the Trees Exhibit sponsored by the Artists Association of Elk Grove and the Elk Grove Village Library.  The exhibit runs from March 9, 2013 until April 27, 2013.  There will be an opening reception to meet the artists and enjoy an evening of art and fine food.  I will let you know the reception date as soon as it is announced.  My original oil painting is on a 30"H by 15"W stretched canvas.  I have titled it "The Tree, The House  & Me".

Next I am happy to show off the newly released book by Lynn Cohen.  Lynn spent a year at her favorite lunch spot drawing the people she saw there enjoying lunch with their friends, and relaxing at Tacos Jalisco run by the Ubillus family .  The Ubillus' have become quite the celebrities!  Congratulations, Lynn, on your first publication.  I am really enjoying looking at all your art work and reading the captions.

Next is my first day of 10 minutes( per day) work on my journal for "30 Days in your journal".  I am enjoying seeing all the possibilities that Julie Fei-Fan Balzer has to offer.  I just started last night, so will do my next 10 minute project later tonight.  I started by using a journal page covered with paint from my Gelli Plate and stencils made by Jessica Sporn.  I added the date and time, and picked my title for this page, and did a little journaling off in one corner.

The next two pictures are of two Artists Trading Cards I made while at our January meeting last Saturday.  The Theme was fabric.  I had made a dozen fabric cards beforehand, but we always do some while at the meeting.  I didn't get a very good picture of the first one, which was fabric and lettering applied with fusible web.  Then I highlighted with Gel pens and sewed on a sequin and bead.

I had time left over so made this ATC tangled for a general trade.  My new friend, Cathy, an experienced ATC card maker traded with me for one of her lovely cards.

Gloria J Zucaro's "Cachepot & Pumpkin"

My post for today is an impressionistic still life with a very pretty and ornate cachepot.  For some extra seasonal interest, I placed a mini-pumpkin next to it, reflecting the same color palette.   It is an original oil painted from life on canvas sheet.  The framed size is approximately 8"H x 5"W.

On the last day of the Dreama Tolle Perry workshop, the artists were either finishing up paintings started in the four previous days or starting new ones.  I decided to paint some pansies that were on the table set for us with coffee and fresh baked goods from Cary Jurrians,the owner of the Whidbey Island Fine Art School, and a terrific baker.  I love Spring flowers and now that I am home in Illinois have put out several containers of these colorful flowers.

This week's Daily Paintworks Challenge is to crop a larger reference photo using any part of the photo that you wish.  To me there were a couple of areas that caught my eye.  this vintage automobile and the circular porch roof.  Here is the reference photo.  Which areas would you have chosen to paint?

This weeks Daily Paintworks Challenge is called "The Up-close Animal Challenge" offered by Taryn Day.  Taryn did a sheep's head.  I decided I would also do a sheep, but a different one which I again searched for my reference on Wet Canvas in their image library.  For some reason I was spooked by the look of the sheep's eyes!?  So instead of running away as fast as possible, I just stared him down.  And guess what he said to me "How are Ewe?" in a very soothing and soft voice.

An exercise in white, reflecting the red background fabric and the cool light from the windows.  I love eggs!  They seem to have a personality and are versatile and willing to pose for you in any situation.

In this painting it was a lot of fun to discover that two white eggs would actually look like two brown eggs when reflected in the copper teapot.

Tree Sculpture Series "Late Bloomer"

 I always think that bare trees look like sculptures.  This tree was in a lovely garden in Long Grove, IL.  Our group was doing Plein Air  and  I picked this tree as my subject matter because its' "body" was so beautiful.  Most everything else in the garden was in bloom, so I titled the painting "Late Bloomer".
