Gloria J Zucaro's "Abstracted Floral"

I had some sort of "bug" this week so didn't get around to visit my Paint Party Friday friends.  I felt better by Thursday AM so finished this piece I had been working on for awhile.  It is in oil on watercolor paper and is 15" H by 7.5"Wide. I will be selling it in my new Etsy Shop when it opens in a couple of weeks.

Gloria J Zucaro's " Saturday Workshop with Laura-Lein Svencner".

This past Saturday an artist friend and I enjoyed a one-day workshop with Laura-lein Svencner and 8 other artists. Laura makes beautiful abstract collages that include handmade papers, thread, beads, and organic matter. But the focus for this workshop was abstract landscape collage.  It was so wonderfully organized!  All we brought was our lunch!  Laura had all the supplies for making our own papers and then designing our landscapes from them and heat-tacking them together on watercolor paper.

We each received a large zip-lock bag that held all the papers we would transform with paint, templates and polymer, each picking our own palette and two pieces of watercolor paper to attach our landscapes to. We had taped the edges so that when we removed the tape we had a wonderfully clean white mat effect.

Gloria J Zucaro's "An Afternoon with Cat Scanlon"

January 20th CJS 2017 had Catherine Scanlon as the presenter.  She talked to us about "mark making" and how to in corporate it into our collage under layers of our paintings and then again at the end.   Our final project over our collage was flowers. I see that next time I will have to make my marks a little darker on the collage background.  But I am happy with my marks over the top after doing the flowers and background.  And I can see the collage through my flower petals.  
My quote for the day is from Marianne Williamson-"A tulip doesn't strive to impress anyone-there's room in the garden for every flower".

Gloria J Zucaro's "Going Up"

Good Morning!  It has been forever since I have posted.  I got overwhelmed by family changes, construction, illness and death.  In other words..."LIFE!"  All is more sane now, so I have posted to the site called Paint My Photo where you can find all sorts of free photographs to use in your artwork.
I used one of the photographers photos for my abstract acrylic collage piece called "Going Up?"  I was thinking of old time elevators where an attendant was the one in control of the workings of the elevator in fancy hotels and residences.
I will be posting to Paint Party Friday, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest.   I took Joan Fullerton workshop last weekend and assembled my piece during her class.  What fun! Have a wonderful week,

Gloria J Zucaro's "Taos Mourner"

I posted this on my Facebook page last week, but for those of you who missed it, I thought I would post it here for Paint Party Friday this week.
My older daughter Lucy and I took a 4 day trip to Sante Fe and Taos, New Mexico a few years ago.  We visited the Taos Adobe while we were there.  There is an area on one side where they have the cemetery. This woman was actually our guide.  She looked so wonderful with her umbrella/parasol and agreed to have her picture taken in front of the cemetery wall.

Monday's "I Am The Diva" prompt #182 for August 25,2014 is "Stripes". Done on a greeting card. I noticed after I finished that the houses have different roof or wall lines when you turn them from vertical to horizontal.

Gloria J Zucaro's "Thank You Ann"

This week has been filled with efforts to close the deal on my townhouse.  Repair men and painters at the prospective buyers request.  The bank appraisal is on the 18th.  I am asking everyone to pray that it appraises at the level of the sales contract.  Thank you in advance! :>)  

This little card is for Ann who sent me a delicious Edible Arrangement after my surgery.  It was a perfect gift , light and refreshing.  I am portraying the pieces of pineapple(flower & stars), the strawberries and grapes.  There were also slices of melon,so good!  Sorry it took me so long, Ann.

4 inches square on watercolor paper.  The sticks that are used in the fruit for stems are made using the Zentangle "Hollibaugh" pattern and the table top is "Leaflet"

I used Micron pens, Staedtler "ergo soft" coloured pencils and Artist Loft Dual Tip Brush Markers.

Gloria J Zucaro's " Zentangle for Maria"

My first effort after total shoulder replacement of my right shoulder.  I am feeling good and PT is going well. Two of my good friends took me to lunch this week and I received a beautiful set of 2 cups with peacocks on them from Maria.  Maria was the one who first told me about Zentangles.  I finally decided to try to get back to doing a little art.  I will certainly also do something for all the other friends who have taken me to lunch or dinner, sent cards, given me flowers and even brought and served a wonderful lunch here at my home so that I wouldn't have to go out.  I started with a pattern called "Quandary" that was suggested on Laura Harms website  http://iamthedivaczt.blogspot.com/.   It is the pattern that looks like grains of rice that form a flower shape.    It was nice to get back to doing a little piece of art as a "thank you".

This is my entry into Laura's "Blind-Sighted" challenge. Laura is the host for the I am the Diva site that has a weekly challenge for Zentangling. The idea is to close your eyes and then draw your "string" or  lines around and across your drawing surface.  Then do your design work following these disorderly strings!  This was a lot of fun because I had extra little spaces that I ordinarily would not have had if I had planned my areas with eyes open. Laura just returned from a trip to Victoria BC.  She has lots of pictures so a great place to go sightseeing through her photos.  Also don't forget to see all the other blind string tangles that have been created by all the participating artists.

This is my entry into the challenge offered by Laura on The Diva site.  We are starting on Tuesday this week instead of Monday because of the Labor Day holiday.  The featured tangle pattern is called "Copada" this was an original design made by Margaret Bremner. It is the one above that has the shapes inside a band that look like the cupola of a Russian or Greek building.  I have used three or four other tangles to compliment Margaret's' design.  To see the design Margaret drew with her pattern go to Enthusiastic Artist Blogspot.  And be sure to stop by the Diva site(link above) to see all the other artists use of "Copada"
